Para ler e-books usa-se um programa que leia o formato do e-book, pode estar em vários formatos!

djvu (DéJáVU):
- djviewer
- Evince

Adobe PostScript:
- gv
- Evince

Adobe PortableDocumentFormat:
- xpdf
- Evince
- Adobe Acrobat Reader

OpenDocumentFormat Text:
- AbiWord
- OpenOffice.org

Os mais comuns são PortableDocumentFormat e DJVU.

Nesse caso seria mais apropriado o servidor enviar o código HTTP 410 (Gone).
